What is an American Job Center?

American Job Centers (AJCs) provide free services that help you find a meaningful career all over Tennessee. Let us be the gateway to services assisting your job search. Find your nearest Center here.

What services are available?

  • Resource rooms with phones, free internet and resume writing tools

  • Employment plan development

  • Job training services (which can include tuition assitance)

  • Job search assistance

  • Career counseling

  • Practice interviewing

  • Skills testing

  • Labor market and employer information

  • Supportive services (which can include information about SNAP, financial assistance, Medicaid, training services, child care, emergency funds, and other benefits)

  • Hiring events and business service information

  • Accessibility and special accommodations for people with disabilities

How can an AJC help me with finding a job?

Our AJCs have experienced career counselors on staff that work with job seekers to identify their interests, assess their skills and abilities and advise them on in-demand jobs and potential training opportunities.

Jobs4TN.gov's database provides easy access to the largest number of unduplicated online job opportunities currently available in one location with more than 90,000 jobs every day.

How can I become Career Ready?

Career Training is available on a limited basis to those who qualify. Review the list of approved training providers in the state of Tennessee by clicking here: Eligible Training Provider List or contact a WIOA Career Specialist at your local job center.

Upper Cumberland Adult Education helps individuals earn their diploma in the Upper Cumberland region. Educational services are offered to adults who are over the age of 17 (unless granted an exception) lacking a high school diploma and no longer under compulsory attendance to public high school. Adult Education also offers English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Civics classes for those individuals who need to learn to speak, read, and write the English language.
